Holy Trinity Football has a "Need for Speed"!
Holy Trinity Tornadoes football will truly be running like the wind this season. They have begun training with me in our Elite Speed and Agility Program leading into their spring football season. We are training football specific speed and agility skills, including:
1. Linear speed work
2. Stopping, starting, deceleration
3. Acceleration
4. Movement skills in variety of planes
5. Resisted and assisted movement patterns
6. Agility and footwork drills
As a Trinity Alum, it is great to be able to go back to my school and work with these great athletes.
St. Joe's High School Begins to 'TRAIN ELITE'.
Several athletes from St. Joe's High School in Barrhaven have joined the Elite Strength Training Program in preparation for their spring football season. They are currently training twice a week with me, right in their own high school weight room. Coach Mario Panetta is on hand for every session to track the great progress his athletes are making. If you are a St. Joe's athlete and would like to join the sessions, contact Coach Panetta, or myself at Pat@PatWoodcock.ca.
Kanata Knights team up with
Elite Performance Academy
Kanata Knights Head Coach and Vice-President Rob
Hamm made the following
announcement:
"The Kanata Knights have hired a full
time Speed and Agility coach to work with our athletes over
the winter and spring. It is our pleasure to bring Pat Woodcock on
to our team as our lead Speed and Agility Coach. This is a first for
the Knights and a first by any other club in NCAFA. The Knights
believe that exposure to this type of training by our players is a
cornerstone in developing players for next season and beyond."
Personally,
I am very excited about this collaboration. Being able to work with
a group of athletes throughout the entire off-season, and beyond,
will allow us to be very detailed and aggressive in our training.
The Knights will definitely be a fast, and explosive football team
come next season!
Speed and Agility Camp
2009
In April 2009 I teamed up with my longtime training
partner, Scott Gordon of the Edmonton Eskimos, to put on our first
Speed and Agility Training Camp. Thirteen athletes ranging in age
from 12-15 years trained with us for 1 hour every Saturday and
Sunday for 4 weeks. We coached the athletes on proper sprint
technique, change of direction drills, acceleration and power
production. We did before and after testing in 3 standard speed and
agility tests: 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, and standing long
jump. The results were incredible! On AVERAGE, athletes reduced
their 40-yard dash time by more than 2 tenths of a second (0.22s),
their 20-yard shuttle time by an amazing 3.5 tenths of a second
(0.35s), and increased their standing long jump by 5cm! All this in
just 6 training sessions!
Elite Performance Academy
presents:
Ruiz-Woodcock Football Skills Camp 2009
On May
16-17 2009, my former Ottawa Renegades teammate Donnie Ruiz joined
me in hosting our first Football Skills Camp. Held at the Bells
Sensplex in Kanata, athletes were coached in improving speed and
agility, as well as specific Offensive and Defensive Football Skills
to make them better, more well-rounded players. Queens University
Football Scout Stephen Laporte and former Ottawa Renegades coach
Rohan Bansie made appearances to speak to and inspire the
athletes.
